The story of
Shihan Davichello
The story of the master who transformed his life through martial arts. From his childhood, the teacher found in martial arts more than just a hobby: a refuge, a guide, and, ultimately, a life purpose. It all began in 1987, when he was just 8 years old. Inspired by the films of heroes and warriors he admired on the big screen, he immersed himself in the world of Kukkiwon Tae Kwon Do. However, life soon presented him with a challenge: an illness forced him to step back from training.
Fate, however, had bigger plans for him. In his teens, faced with painful bullying at school, his father made a decision that would change the course of his life: he enrolled him again in martial arts classes. And although the initial motivation was to learn self-defense, the impact was much deeper. It wasn't physical strength that stopped his bullies, but something more powerful: the confidence and self-assurance he began to radiate.
From then on, his relationship with martial arts ceased to be simply physical training. As he advanced in Tae Kwon Do and discovered the Ninjutsu of the Koga Warrior School, he began to glimpse his true calling. The classes he had to lead in his teacher's absence awakened a passion in him: teaching. Thus, he decided to pursue a degree in Physical Education, Sports, and Recreation, with the dream of combining his love of martial arts with his desire to educate others.
A path forged with values: Under the guidance of his mentor, Professor José Villa Alvarado, he learned more than combat techniques. Discipline, loyalty, a love of art, and the courage to face life without fear became pillars of his character. He also discovered how different martial arts disciplines offer unique tools: the dynamism of Tae Kwon Do, the strategic approach of Jujitsu, and the effectiveness of Ninjutsu.
This blend of knowledge not only strengthened his technical skill but also reinforced his emotional connection to martial arts. He recalled the stories of ninjas and warriors that had inspired him as a child and found in them a metaphor for his own life: overcoming obstacles with patience, ingenuity, and determination.
From a dream to a reality: Life led him to the city of Coatzacoalcos as a physical education teacher. There, he dreamed of opening a karate school, but fate, once again, had other plans. A career change took him to the port of Veracruz in 2005. Here, while pursuing a master's degree in education, he explored other avenues like soccer, but soon realized that his true passion was still waiting.
It was in his backyard that his dream began to take shape. With limited resources but a clear vision, he started a small martial arts school. As his students grew, he grew as a teacher. He rented a space, expanded his offerings, and committed himself to excellence, always seeking answers to the questions that plagued him as a martial artist and educator.
The desire to improve and share his knowledge led him to seek new horizons, where he trained with renowned teachers in Mexico and the United States and organized seminars that not only enriched his training but also raised the level of his students. For years he studied the Jukido Kai Ryu system, reaching 4th Dan. But in 2021 he made a brave decision: to separate himself from that organization to continue exploring and respecting the principles he had instilled in his students. He became interested in writing a book that would be the backbone of his teachings at DOJO ASTILLEROS and through merits he became part of Bushido Karate Jitsu Do, an international organization based in the United States that grants him the 5th Dan and the title of SHIHAN, as well as a representative in Mexico. Currently, DOJO ASTILLEROS is also incorporated into World Kickboxing Association (WKA) where outstanding students compete internationally.
Beyond the Dojo: A Transformative Mission
The instructor not only found his calling in martial arts, but also a tool to transform lives off the mat. Together with his wife, a woman equally committed to social welfare, he developed an innovative program focused on eradicating violence against women.
Based on the values and philosophy of the Astilleros dojo, this program was implemented in various elementary schools in Veracruz, forging intergovernmental partnerships with private and public institutions. Its comprehensive approach not only included self-defense techniques to address situations such as domestic violence, intimidation, kidnapping, and sexual assault, but also offered workshops on self-esteem building, early detection of violence, understanding the legal framework, and tools for seeking support.
The impact was so profound that the program began to expand, taking the Astilleros dojo's mission to other parts of the country. Each seminar was a spark of hope, a reminder that it is possible to empower those who have been victimized to regain their voice, their confidence, and their freedom.
An inspiring leader: Today, Professor Aguirre is not just a martial arts master; he's a leader and visionary who has taken the dojo's philosophy beyond the walls of his school. His story is living proof that martial arts are more than just combat techniques: they're a philosophy of life that transforms, strengthens, and unites.
When you enter his dojo, you don't just learn to defend yourself; you discover who you are and how far you can go. Under his guidance, each student finds not only a teacher, but a mentor committed to cultivating values that transcend the mat.
Thus, the professor continues to dedicate his life to training not only warriors, but human beings with the strength and heart to face any challenge, taking his mission of transformation to every corner of Mexico.
